The East doesn't really matter, none of the weaker east teams will have a chance against the stronger and better west teams. The good teams in the east (Pittsburgh, New York, Montreal, Tampa Bay, Detroit) are no match for LA, Chicago or St. Louis even. - woopstash

In fairness, St. Louis gagging is generally due to the stench of St. Louis. |

No doubt San Jose will. They aren't even that good anymore. I have a feeling St. Louis might do some damage this year in the playoffs. Something seems a bit different about them. Tarasenko is a game changer.
Too bad your Bruins are sucking, I was hoping to see them cause the Laffs another heart break. Guess somebody else will have to do it this year, IF the Laffs even make the playoffs. |

Ugh. The Bruins are tepid. Just mediocre in every way. Love Tarasenko's game but the goal tending is suspect IMO. I thought last year was their year when they got Miller.
As for San Jose

No offense, Im a fan of LA (even before they won their first cup), but didnt the Isles heavily outplay LA when they met earlier this year?
I think Tampa Isles and Montreal are serious threats when healthy |

One regular season game doesn't mean squat. The Penguins are the team to beat in the east I think. I like what the Islanders have done but they aren't quite there yet. Montreal is simply not built for the playoffs. Tampa is good, for an eastern team but won't be able to match up depth wise with Chicago or LA. |

Hi Eklund I know you gotta make money but the ads on this site are getting out of control. Totally ruins the users experience in my opinion. Might be why the numbers are down here lately. - woopstash

You mean the 8th place, struggling, wild card LA team is a favorite to win the Cup?

Yes the isles did outplay the Kings and they just outplayed the Lightning on Saturday, but outplaying a team once or twice in the regular season doesn't mean too much. The isles beat the Penguins on back to back nights, but I still think the Penguins are the team to beat in the east. |

If you haven't noticed the Kings always finish 6-8. I think I've seen them 5th once ever since I started watching them play. Even back when they were mediocre it was always a 6 7 8 finish. Honestly it really doesn't matter anymore what place a team is in the playoffs. Is it an easier road if you finish a top your division YES. But Dallas last year gave the ducks a run for their money in the first 4 games even though anaheim came out of that series 4-1. Same with Minny vs Chi. Obviously finishing higher in your conference matters. |
